It is very common to find the Lefkara ladies in groups working with lace. Sometimes they work for 4-5 hours per day, leaving some time to take care of their families as well. Pictured left are some of them, working outside of D. & A. Lefkara Handicraft Centre.
In this section, we undergo an effort to catalog the Lefkara ladies, who deal with lace-making. The traditional handicraft Lefkara lace making is transferred from generation to generation, from mother to daughter. Unfortunately, not many women are left today making lace at Lefkara, due to the fact that their wages are too low to encourage the younger generation to adopt this tradition.
If you know of any Lefkara lady, or any other who makes Lefkara lace, please contact the Webmaster of this site.
